Gustavo Arriagada received his degree in Electronics Engineering at Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria (Chile) in 1981. He worked 4 years for "EL MERCURIO" the most important newspaper in Chile as an Assistant Engineer. In 1987 he joined Cerro Tololo Interamerican Observatory where he worked for 10 years in Operations and Maintenance as an electronic engineer. In 1987 Gustavo joined Gemini. Him and his family moved to Hawaii for two years to participate in the integration, testing and commissioning of the GN telescope as an electronic engineer. In 1999 Gustavo was back in Chile to start working on the integration, testing and commissioning of the GS telescope, this time as Systems Engineer. Between September 2006 and May 2007 Gustavo became Acting Associate Director of Engineering/Chief Engineer. Gustavo became Associate Director of Engineering/Chief Engineer in June 2007 remaining in that position until June 2011. Currently he is a Senior Project Manager in the Development Group. |
