PSF-fitting techniques are important to deal with the high stellar crowding in the innermost regions of our Galaxy observed by the Vista Variables in the Vía Láctea (VVV) survey, and its extension, the VVV-X. In my contribution, I will present an update of the current state of the PSF photometry of the VVV/VVV-X covered area, showing our most recent developments on the study of the surveyed stellar populations and star clusters. I will also talk about the non-canonical reddening law towards these low latitude lines-of-sight, and how we are constraining it using the observed red clump stars.
