Supermassive Black Hole is Ahead of its Time
Combined Magellan/FIRE and Gemini/GNIRS near-infrared spectrum of the quasar J1342+0928. The inset shows the MgII line, which played a crucial role in determining the mass of the black hole and was obtained using GNIRS.
