GN Observing Database offline for maintenance
August 17th, 2010
The Gemini North Observing Database will be offline on August 17 from 09:00 - 14:00 HST (19:00 - 24:00 UT) for emergency maintenance.
Mac support for 2011A PIT with Java 6

As announced previously, the Gemini software tools are being updated to use the currently supported version of Java (Java 6). The Phase I Tool (PIT) will use Java 6 starting with the 2011A version to be released on September 1, 2010. This change will be transparent to most users. However, the new PIT will not run on PowerPC Macintosh computers since Apple does not provide Java 6 for these machines.
2010B OT Released

The 2010B Observing Tool (OT) is now available. This version is needed for 2010B Phase II preparation as well as for fetch/store of any programs in the observing databases.
2010B Programs and Schedule Announced

The Gemini 2010B observing programs have now been announced. Successful PIs will have received email notification. Please check the schedules page for more information.

Observing database offline for 2010B update

The Gemini Observatory observing database will be offline on Tuesday June 8 while upgrades are performed in preparation for the start of the 2010B semester. Affected applications include the Observing Tool (OT) and the web report forms. The new 2010B OT should be available on Wednesday June 9 and will be required for all subsequent fetch/store operations. Please check this site for further announcements.
2010B PIT released

The Phase I Tool (PIT)
for semester 2010B observing proposals has been released. This should
also be used for poor weather and director's time proposals during the
remainder of semester 2010A.
Updated 2010A OT available
February 1st, 2010
The February ODB maintenance is complete and an updated OT is available. The new OT fixes several bugs so it is a recommended update. However, the first 2010A version (2010A.1.1.2) may still be used for fetch/store and TOO triggering.
Observing databases offline February 2

The observing databases will be offline for maintenance during the morning hours at each site on Tuesday, February 2. Fetch/store and TOO triggering will not be functional during these periods. Please check this site for further announcements. An optional OT update will be available when the maintenance is completed.
