Data Reduction

Raw Data

IGRINS-2 data are stored in Multi-Extension FITS (MEF) files, following the Gemini Standard data format. Each raw dataset consists of 5 MEF files, with the following structure:

  • Extension 0: Primary Header Unit
  • Extension 1: H-band data and header
  • Extension 2: K-band data and header
  • Extension 3: Compressed SVC images of the field in a cube
  • Extension 4: Uncompressed, cut-out SVC images of the slit region in a cube
  • Extension 5: Binary table containing the full headers of the SVC images in Extension 3

Data Reduction

IGRINS-2 data will be reduced using a dedicated IGRINS Pipeline Package (PLP), developed specifically for IGRINS-2. The pipeline will be integrated into Gemini's DRAGONS plaform in the future and made publicly available. Until then, IGRINS-2 data will be processed by the instrument team, and the reduced data will be accessible via the Gemini Observatory Archive within 4 weeks after observation.   • spec2d.fits: Rectified 2D spectrum:
    • Extension 1: 2D spectrum
    • Extension 2: 2D variance
    • Extension 3: Wavelength array (in microns)
  • spec_a0v.fits: Telluric-corrected 1D spectrum:
    • Extension 1: Target spectrum divided by A0V standard star, scaled by a Vega model
    • Extension 2: 1D variance
    • Extension 3: Wavelength array (in microns)
